Take a mixing bowl and mix all the dry ings to the flour add oil and mix it with your hands.

It should be like bread crumbs.
Now add water little by little and make a dough. - 3
Not very hard not very soft.
Cover it and let it rest for 15-20 mins. - 4
Meanwhile prepare the dal.
Dal should be washed and soaked for an hour. - 5
Coarsely grind garlic and green chillies in a mixer grinder

Now heat oil and ghee in a cooker and roast cumin seeds.

When they starts splittering add bay leaves onion finely chopped and garlic chilli paste saute it nicely till it leaves aroma.

Now add all the dry spicesand stir it well and cook for few mins.

Now add chopped tomatoes and cook till tomatoes and onion are mixed with each other.

Now add the dal and roast it nicely till oil seperates.

Now add 3-4 glasses of water and let it boil.

Till then start making dumplings

Make four equal size balls from the dough.

Take one ball and make a big thin log and start cutting in to small pieces about 10-12 from each log.

Make small rounds and make an impression in the center of each round to form a disc.

Now put the dumplings to the boiling dal cover it with the lid and give 2-3 whistle on low flame.

Garnish with coriander

Serve hot with some chopped onion and a spoonfull loaded with ghee.

Can also serve some pickle and papad.
