Wash split bengal gram and keep soaked aside for 30 minutes.
Peel off bottle gourd and cut into pieces. - 2
Boil split bengal gram and bottle gourd and add 1 tsp white cumin.
Once gram and gourd are tender, remove from stove.
Heat oil in pan and fry onions for 2 to 3 minutes. - 3
Add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, 1tsp white cumin, tomatoes and ginger garlic paste and mix well.
Add 1 glass water and cook covered. - 4
Once water is dried, roast well so that onions and tomatoes get softer. Once oil starts appearing, add boiled gourd and gram and mix together.

Then add garam masala powder. Cover pan and cook at low heat. When gourd and bengal gram are mixed thoroughly and oil layer starts appearing, add ginger, green coriander, and green chillies and place on stove for steam-cooking (dam) at low flame.

Delicious lauki chana dal is ready.
Serve in a dish with green coriander and boiled eggs.
