Nasi Goreng Kambing...ala Kebon Sirih

Yesterday, I got 2 kg of goat meat. A whole leg. We enjoyed eating goat for two days straight. On the first day, we made satay, soup, and cooked it with soy sauce. With the last bit, I made fried rice this evening. We love this kebuli-style fried rice, not the village-style fried rice with goat added. It's different 😄...if you don't have goat, you can use beef. It's a nice way to satisfy our craving for Kebon Sirih goat fried rice...the kids say it tastes similar. Let's try cooking it.

Steps

  1. 1

Sauté the cardamom, ground spices, and curry powder until fragrant, then add the goat meat. Stir well.

  2. 2

Add enough water, season with salt and sugar, and cook until the meat is tender and the sauce thickens.

  3. 3

Add the rice and sweet soy sauce. Stir until well mixed and the rice is slightly dry.

  4. 4

Serve the goat fried rice with pickled cabbage, cucumber, emping crackers, and fried shallots.

  5. 5

This is really delicious. Cook the meat until it's tender, and use goat with a little fat for more flavor.
