Steps
- 1
Heat the water until just before boiling, then pour it over the coconut. Cover and let it sit overnight.
- 2
The next day, blend the mixture very thoroughly in a blender. Gradually, you'll see the water turn milky.
- 3
Strain the mixture very well using a cheesecloth and squeeze it completely. Now you have coconut milk that you can use in smoothies or drinks, hot or cold. As for the coconut residue from straining, you can dry it, grind it, and add it to anything sweet like cookies or curry dishes or anything you like. Note that the milk's shelf life in the fridge is at most 5 days, and it should be stored in a tightly sealed bottle.
- 4
Note: The milk's concentration depends on your taste. If you like it rich, reduce the amount of water added to the coconut. If you prefer skim milk, you can increase the amount of water. Enjoy!
