You can make this recipe spicy or not. In my case, since I'm the only one in the family who eats spicy food, I chop the chili or pepper and serve it on the side.

Ingredients

15 servings
  1. Chili or pepper, to taste
  2. 2.2 poundsground beef, pork, or a mix
  3. 2 jarsred beans
  4. 1 jarroasted red or green bell pepper, or fresh bell pepper
  5. 2onions
  6. 2.2 poundstomatoes
  7. 4 clovesgarlic or garlic powder
  8. 1 tablespooncumin
  9. 1 tablespoonoregano
  10. 1 teaspoonsugar
  11. 1 teaspoonsweet paprika
  12. Salt, pepper
  13. Meltable cheese, shredded or Parmesan, or your favorite cheese😋

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Chop the garlic, onion, bell pepper (if using jarred, empty it and cut with a wooden spoon), and chili into small pieces, except for the tomato. Sauté everything in a large pot with a generous amount of oil.

  2. 2

Once the onion is well cooked, add the ground meat and season with salt, pepper, oregano, cumin, and sweet paprika (optional: ground chili or cayenne pepper🔥). Stir to ensure the meat cooks with the sautéed mixture.

  3. 3

Add the tomato paste, stir, and then add the beans and diced tomatoes.

  4. 4

Add a cup of water if the mixture is too thick.

  5. 5

Let it simmer for 15 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

  6. 6

Let it rest for a few minutes. Like any good stew, it will taste better the next day.

  7. 7

When serving, if desired, add meltable cheese to let it melt with the heat of the chili.
