This tomato chutney or Naga Tomato Chutney is a simple, spicy chutney from Nagaland which is oil free and has a distinct flavour which comes from all the ingredients used. This chutney can be made very quickly with very few ingredients readily available at home. All you have to do is add all the ingredients and cook in water. Once water is evaporated, crush it with a mortar and pestle and it's done. This tomato chutney can be served as a side dish with roti, dal and rice or spread on roti or even bread.

In a kadhai add water on low flame. Add salt, roughly chopped tomatoes, coriander leaves, mint leaves, garlic cloves, roughly chopped ginger and green chilli. Mix well.

Cook everything on medium flame till water gets completely dried stirring in between continuously.

Once water is almost dried, switch off the flame.

Smash it well with the help of a mortar and pestle or you can also use the potato/pav bhaji smasher. Serve as a side dish with roti, dal and rice.
