Kelli chana is a popular food on the roads of Manipur. The dish got it's name; it seems, from an old lady named Kelli who used to sell spicy chickpeas under a tree. It is prepared with flavorful herbs as well as flavors with chickpeas being the cornerstone in it. Firstly boil chickpeas and other side Heat oil in a pan add onions and cook until they start turning lightly brown around the edges. Add the ginger and garlic and cook for few minutes.

Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until mushy.

Next, add the red chilli powder and salt. Mix well. Add some water if the mixture looks too dry. Cook more for 3 to 4 minutes.

Finally garnish with chopped green onions or cilantro and Enjoy yummy Manipuri Kelli Chana.
