Steps

Take the mixing bowl add rice wash thoroughly. Then soak the rice in water for 30 mins to 1 hour.

After drain the water completely then transfer to the mixi jar. Keep the grated coconut ready. And add water to medium thick batter. Make sure the consistency of the batter is any dosa/pancake batter.

Next transfer this grinded mixture to a bowl and add vanilla extract, cinnamon powder, sugar, and cocoa powder mix it well.

Now add pinch of salt and mix it well then cover the lid and keep this batter aside for 20- 30 mins.

Before using it add baking powder to the batter and mix well.

Now heat the appam pan add little butter/ghee/oil, into all the moulds

Now pour a teaspoon of appo batter in each mould, add 1 small chocolate piece and top it with another teaspoon of batter.

Cover the pan with a lid to allow it to cook on medium flame for 2 mins.

When the edges are cooked, flip the appo's, add some butter and cook on the other side for another 2 mins.

Repeat this to remaining batter.

To make the recipe look more interesting you can dip some appo's in chocolate powder or coconut powder.

Now delicious chocolate appo is ready to serve.
