1. Soak chickpeas overnight or 5 to 6 hours. Then discart the water.

2. Rub baking soda over chickpeas and leave them for half an hour.

3. Now wash again, put enough water and boil the chickpeas till tender. There should be two cups water remaining after they get boiled.

4. Now add boiled potato cubes and all the ingredients except cornflour and onions.

5. Adjust the seasoning according to your taste. In a bowl mix cornflour with some water and pour it dliwly in cholay till you get the right consistency. Turn off the flame.

6. Mix sliced onions when hot. Sprinkle coriander leaves and serve it hot with papri and buns.
