Ingredients

  1. 3/4 cupYellow moong dal (split and skinless)
  2. 1 1/2 cupsWater
  3. 2 tablespoonsOil
  4. 1 teaspoonCumin seeds
  5. 2 teaspoonsGinger paste
  6. 2 teaspoonsGarlic paste or freshly grated
  7. 2 teaspoonsGarlic paste or freshly grated
  8. 2green chilli chopped
  9. 1medium Onion chopped
  10. 1/4 teaspoonTurmeric powder
  11. 1/2 teaspoonRed chilli powder
  12. 1 1/2 cupsSpinach (palak) chopped
  13. 1 cupWater
  14. 2 teaspoonsLemon juice
  15. To tasteSalt

Steps

  1. 1

    Wash moong dal in a water. Add into pressure cooker with water and cook it for 2 whistles on medium heat.

  2. 2

    Heat the oil in a pan on medium heat and add cumin seeds. Let them sizzle.
    Add ginger paste, garlic paste and green chilies and cook for 1 minute.

  3. 3

    Mix in salt and onions, cook them till they are light brown. Add turmeric powder and red chilli powder, mix and cook for a minute.

  4. 4

    Add chopped spinach and cook for 1-2 minutes. Add cooked dal and water.

  5. 5

    Mix well. Let it come to boil and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes. Finally add lemon juice and mix. Turn off the heat and serve hot.
