Steps
- 1
In a Kadai dry roast aval on medium low flame for 3 to 4 minutes. After it cools, grind it in a mixer jar to a coarse powder.
- 2
Transfer it to a big bowl.Add 1/4 or little more hot water to this aval. Gently mix it and keep it aside for 10minutes.
- 3
After 10minutes aval will become soft and would have absorbed the water.
- 4
Now in the Kadai add Jaggery and add water till the Jaggery dissolves about 5 to 6 tbsp. Now on medium flame melt the Jaggery. Filter it to remove the impurites from Jaggery.
- 5
Again add it to Kadai and on medium flame boil the Jaggery syrup till you get a hard ball consistency. You can check it by adding the syrup to a small bowl of water. If you could make a hard ball out of it then it is correct consistency.
- 6
Now add the aval to this and the flame should be very low..Add grated coconut, cardamom, dry ginger powder, jaiphal powder to this.Add little ghee to it. Mix all the ingredients well. Now switch off the flame.
- 7
Add fried cashew nuts to this. After it cools down the puttu will be more crumbled not sticky.
- 8
Delicious Aval Puttu is ready.
