Pulikachal mix (Tamilnadu cuisine)

Soak the tamarind in water for about 1 hour. Extract the pulp/juice and discard the rest.

Dry roast the ingredients (to make spice powder) on low flame, cool down and grind to a smooth powder.

In a big pan/kadhai add oil & temper the above ingredients, switch to a low flame and add the tamarind pulp.

Let it boil until oil separates. Then add the powdered spice mixture and cook for some more time until it solidifies into a thick paste.

Once the paste has thickened, switch off the flame and let it cool until oil separates.

Transfer the pulikachal mix into a bottle.
