Hello, today I'm sharing this simple recipe with you. The main ingredient is okra, also known as quimbombó or bombó around here. I live in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, right on the border with the USA. In fact, I was born in Texas 🇺🇸. This food is grown and harvested here in Matamoros, and it's very tasty and nutritious. It can be cooked in many ways, and this time I prepared it Mexican-style.

Hello, today I'm sharing this simple recipe with you. The main ingredient is okra, also known as quimbombó or bombó around here. I live in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, right on the border with the USA. In fact, I was born in Texas 🇺🇸. This food is grown and harvested here in Matamoros, and it's very tasty and nutritious. It can be cooked in many ways, and this time I prepared it Mexican-style.
Cooking Instructions

First, wash the okra and slice it.

Next, in a pan, add a splash of oil and half an onion, diced. Add the okra to the pan as well, along with finely chopped jalapeño pepper, the tomato, one tablespoon of garlic powder, salt to taste, and the bouillon cube.

Once all the ingredients are in the pan, add the water, reduce the heat to medium, and cover. Let it cook for half an hour, checking to make sure it doesn't stick. And it's ready. (NOTE: It's important not to stir too much because okra, like nopales, is a food that has a slimy texture. If you stir too much, the dish will become very slimy, so be careful there👀). I hope you like this recipe. I know okra is not very well known in Mexico, but it is on the border because the USA 🇺🇸 is a major consumer.
