One of the prominent breakfast dish from Hyderabad, this is the easiest one to do. It's named as such because of it's less spicy nature and also because there is no use of Red Chilli and Tamarind as in Hyderabadi Khatti Daal. It's less spicy and very simple. Done with just a few ingredients, it's a lovely one. The colour and texture is absolutely fantastic. The best way to eat is to pour it onto a plate with Chapatis or Rotis or Phulkas torn into bite sized pieces into it and mixed until it's totally sunken in the Daal. Eat those completely drenched pieces in Daal to your fill.

Steps

25 minutes
  1. 1

This is the most loved breakfast Daal of Hyderabad City. One of the most favourite of all, it's very often made for breakfast time. Add Red Lentils and the other ingredients mentioned to a Pressure cooker and cook for 6-7 whistles on a high heat.

  2. 2

After the pressure settles down on it's own, open the lid and adjust the consistency to semi thick. Use water as required. Also check on Salt. Simmer it on a low to medium high heat. And last but not the least, prepare it's tempering now. Heat Oil and add sliced Onions. Also add Ginger garlic paste and Green chillies. Fry until golden brown and well sauteed. Add chopped Coriander Leaves to it and mix this tempering with the cooked Daal. Mix well and enjoy with Chapatis or Phulkas.

Homemaker by choice and a passionate cook by heart. An aspiring cook who actually never knew anything about Cooking until i became a mother myself. With Motherhood came the responsibilities as well and this was the turning point in my life.I started to learn the ABC's of cooking, taking help from my mother and my MIL. And time just flew. I spread my wings higher and higher. With my love for excellence and innovation, i stepped into a world of homecooks with my exposure to Cookpad one fine day on the social media. And there was no looking back since then and i have not only shared recipes here on this wonderful platform but also have made some lovely friends as well. Today iam successful because of my hard work, dedication and loads of good wishes of my family and my kids in particular.
