Salted Butterscotch Sauce

Ingredients

  1. 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick)unsalted butter
  2. 1/2 cuppacked dark brown sugar
  3. 1 teaspoonlarge-flake sea salt
  4. 1/2 cupheavy cream
  5. 1 teaspoonvanilla extract
  6. 2 Tbsliquor of choice

Cooking Instructions

    Over med heat Melt butter

  2. 2

    Add brown sugar and salt stir with wooden spoon(no metal)

  3. 3

    Bring to low boil. Stir for 3-4 minutes

  4. 4

    Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and liquor

  5. 5

    If you would like Smoked Butterscotch. before step 1, spread brown sugar and salt out on baking parchment. Smoke for 1 hour at 150-165 degrees(as low as possible). Make sure wood matches the alcohol you plan to use. I like pecan or oak with my whiskey and rye, Maple or cherry with Grand Marnier, cherry or apple with brandy.
