Add 1 cup lentil to saucepan, add enough water to soak only (approximately 2 cups). Bring to boil.

Brown onions in sauce pan with oil at medium heat

When lentils are simmering, add salt, tomato and turmeric. Cover and add water if needed.

Add onions to lentils, cook for approximately 10 minutes watching consistency
