Pizzas taste better to me when I make them from scratch, and I also feel less guilty about the calories. I bought ground meat to make tacos, and with the leftovers, I knew it was meant for this pizza, even though I had never made it before. It turned out delicious, and I totally recommend it.

  11. 2 tablespoonsbrown sugar
  12. 1 tablespoonsweet paprika
  13. 1 tablespoonmustard
  14. 2 tablespoonsketchup
  15. 1 tablespoonvinegar
  16. 1 tablespoonsoy sauce
  17. Pinchpepper
  18. Topping
  19. At least 3 1/2 oz ground meat (about 100 grams)
  20. Shredded mozzarella cheese to taste

Cooking Instructions

1h 30m + resting
  1. 1

Heat 1/3 cup of water in a microwave-safe glass until warm but not boiling. This helps the yeast mix better.

  2. 2

Mix the flour with a pinch of salt. Gradually add the water with yeast and mix well. Also add the oil. The dough should be a bit sticky for better elasticity. Knead for about ten minutes (stretch and fold the dough). I dip my hands in water as I knead if it feels too dry. Let it rest in a bowl covered with a cloth in a warm area for at least 1 hour.

  3. 3

For the BBQ sauce, heat oil over medium heat and add finely chopped onion. Sauté until almost transparent, then add sugar to caramelize.

  4. 4

Let it mix for a few minutes and add the tomatoes. Let it cook for a few more minutes and then add the rest of the sauce ingredients. Taste and adjust as needed.

  5. 5

Preheat the oven to maximum temperature. Shape the dough into a ball to remove air, then flatten it and roll it out to your desired thickness. Create small edges to keep the toppings in and bake at 400-350°F (200-180°C) for about 5 minutes to lightly toast.

  6. 6

Cook the ground meat (better if it's from a butcher rather than pre-packaged, and you can use any meat you like; I mix pork and beef equally) with a little oil.

  7. 7

Once everything is ready, assemble the pizza. First, spread 3/4 of the sauce on the base. Then add the ground meat, the rest of the sauce, and the shredded cheese.

  8. 8

Bake for 10-15 minutes at 400-350°F (200-180°C) depending on your oven. And it's ready!

  9. 9

You can also make the ground meat with more onion and bell pepper, or with chicken and bacon. There are many ways to make BBQ pizza, choose the one you like best.

  10. 10

If you have store-bought BBQ sauce, spread a layer of tomato sauce on the dough and then a layer or drizzle of the BBQ sauce and mix well.

  11. 11

I want to try making it with textured soy for my vegetarian friends, I'll let you know how it turns out ☺️
