The soaked green grams are blended into a paste and then dropped in hot oil in the form of small cakes having been combined with sugar and grated coconut.
Steps
- 1
Soak the moong dal in water for 3-4 hours. Then drain and blend to a smooth paste.
- 2
In a pan bring water and sugar to a boil over medium-high heat. Turn the heat to low and stir continuously until sugar dissolves completely. Add salt and cardamoms, then coconut and ghee. Mix well.
- 3
Next add the ground moong dal paste and keep stirring till the mixture becomes thick.
- 4
Transfer the mixture to a greased flat dish or plate. Flatten it evenly as a layer and keep aside to cool for 15 minutes.
- 5
Then cut the settled mixture into desired shapes with the help of a wet knife and keep aside.
- 6
Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the cut shapes (pieces) on a low flame till they are golden brown.
- 7
Thus Chandrakanti Pitha is ready for being served hot.
