I belong to kullu-the valley of apples. So, this apple season I prepared an apple pie with my garden fresh apples. Warmly spiced apples are baked until tender in a crisp, buttery crust. That’s it.

Rub cold butter in maida, add sugar and baking soda to it.

Knead with cold water and milk and wrap in a damp cloth for 15 mins.

Cut the dough in two halves. Roll one dough like thick chapati and arrange it on a greased baking tray. Prick it with a fork so it does not elevate on baking.

Roll the other dough and keep aside covered with a damp cloth.

Preheat oven at 250degree C and bake the pastry for 10-15 min. This is the 1st semi bake.

Meanwhile For filling heat butter, apples, lemon juice and sugar with cinnamon in a pan. When apples sweat let them cook and then add walnuts to it.

Now pour this cooked apples over the baked pastry and cover the dish with the other rolled pastry cut in strips. Arrange as shown.

Bake for 20 minutes on 220 degree C till crisp and golden.

Serve hot with or without vanilla ice cream.
