Amla Chutney (Sweet, Spicy & Tangy)

Amla (Indian Gooseberry) is an excellent source of vitamin C which helps to boost immunity, improve metabolism and prevents viral and bacterial ailments, including cold and cough.
To include Amlas in our daily diet, I tried making Amla Chutney in this way and it turned out super tasty.
This sweet-tangy and little spicy Chutney is quick and easy to make. It goes really well with Dal-rice or Parathas. Do try out this recipe!

Wash Amla in a strainer. In a pan/utensil, bring 2 cups of water to boil. Put Amlas & switch off the flame and cover for 5 mins. Now Put Amlas in a strainer and when they become cold, slice them using knife and remove the seeds. Grind coarsely.

Now heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida(hing), curry leaves and let the seeds crackle.

Then add amla paste, jaggery and salt. Combine well and cook for 2-3 mins till jaggery dissolves completely.

Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder too and mix well. Cook for 3-4 mins on low flame till everything is combined well to a shiny chutney texture.

Store in an airtight glass jar for a week.
