Ingredients

50 minutes
Serves 4 servings
  1. 1.1 lbs (500 grams)wheat noodles (Japanese-style noodles)
  2. 14 oz (400 grams)chicken breast or pork loin, cut into thin strips
  3. 1 1/3 cups (200 grams)cabbage, chopped
  4. 2/3 cup (100 grams)fresh green onion, sliced
  5. 2/3 cup (100 grams)bean sprouts
  6. 1carrot, cut into matchsticks
  7. 1green or red bell pepper, cut into strips
  8. 1 clovegarlic, minced
  9. 3 tablespoonssesame oil
  10. Salt and pepper
  11. 1 1/2 tablespoonstoasted sesame seeds
  12. 1 sheetnori seaweed (to crumble on top)
  13. Yakisoba Sauce
  14. 1 tablespoonketchup
  15. 1/4 cup (4 tablespoons)Japanese soy sauce (Teriyaki)

  17. 2 tablespoonsWorcestershire sauce
  18. 1 tablespoonrice vinegar
  19. 2 teaspoonssugar

Steps

  1. 1

    Chop and measure all the ingredients needed for the recipe.

    Make the Yakisoba sauce by mixing the sauce ingredients in a small bowl. Pour into a small pot and simmer over medium heat until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat.

    Bring a pot of salted water to a boil to cook the Japanese noodles.

    Heat a wok and stir-fry the pork strips with the minced garlic until lightly browned. Add 3 tablespoons of Teriyaki sauce and stir-fry for a couple of minutes. Set aside on a plate.

    Meanwhile, cook the noodles in the boiling water. Once cooked, drain them in a colander. Place them in a bowl and toss with a little sesame oil to prevent sticking.

    While the noodles are cooking, add a bit more oil to the wok and stir-fry the green onion. Add the bell peppers and carrot, and stir-fry for a couple of minutes. Add the cabbage and stir-fry for 1 more minute.

    Add the meat, bean sprouts, and season with a little salt and pepper. Pour in half of the Yakisoba sauce and reheat the meat.

    Add the cooked Japanese noodles and the rest of the sauce. Mix well and heat for a couple more minutes. Serve immediately. After plating, sprinkle with crumbled nori seaweed and toasted sesame seeds.
