Cut the orange into 5 mm pieces. Put in a saucepan and boil for 2-3 minutes, remove and dry with a steam towel.

Pour water into a tall saucepan, cover with sugar and vanilla. When the sugar has melted, add the orange slices. And simmer for 1.5-2 hours, stir.
