Baking bread with leftover porridge is the secret to really soft and moist bread, and some golden syrup in the dough gives a lovely sweet hint to it as well.
Steps
- 1
Mix oats, water and salt in a saucepan and simmer for 3 minutes, until you have a thick porridge. Add the butter to melt in the porridge.
- 2
Add syrup and milk to the porridge and warm it up slightly.
- 3
Put everything in a big bowl and mix to a dough (add more flour if it's too sticky). Knead for a few minutes.
- 4
Let rise until doubled in size, about an hour. Tip the dough out on a worktop and shape into 16 buns.
- 5
Let the buns rise for another hour, then bake at 200 degrees for about 12 minutes. Enjoy!
