  2. 1/4 cupwater
  3. 1 tablespoonYeast
  4. 1/4 cupvegetable oil/melted butter
  5. 1egg white
  6. Pinchsalt
  7. 4 cupsflour
  8. For the egg wash
  9. 1egg yolk
  10. 1 teaspoonmilk powder
  11. 1 teaspoonwater
  12. Black seeds/sesame seeds/shredded coconut
  13. Melted butter

Cooking Instructions

2 hrs 15 mins
  1. 1

In a large bowl, Add 1½ cups of warm milk, ¼ cup of water, 1 tablespoon of yeast and stir.

  2. 2

Add a pinch of salt, ¼ cup of vegetable oil/melted butter, 1 egg white and stir.

  3. 3

Seive the 4 cups of flour and add it to the wet ingredients bit by bit to avoid clumps. Mix until incorporated.

  4. 4

Transfer the dough on to the counter that was rubbed with oil, (to avoid the dough sticking to the counter) and knead to form a soft and slightly sticky dough.

  5. 5

Transfer the dough into a bowl sprinkled with flour, cover it with a clean towel and set aside to rise for 1 hour.

  6. 6

After it has doubled in size, transfer the dough onto the counter and knead.

  7. 7

Using your palm, spread the dough a bit to form a circle. Fold the spreaded dough into a cylindrical shape and cut the dough in pieces.

  8. 8

Rub oil on your palms and roll each dough by bringing all the sides to the centre and pinch them together to form a ball. Place the dough on to a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

  9. 9

Pat on the dough and cover it to rest for 5 minutes.

  10. 10

In a small bowl, add 1 egg yolk, 1 teaspoon of milk powder, 1 teaspoon of water and whisk.

  11. 11

Bring out the dough after 5 minutes and pat again to form a huge flat disc. Brush it with the egg yolk mixture and sprinkle some black sesame seeds/ sesame seeds/shredded coconut on top. Allow to rest for 30 minutes.

  12. 12

Rub oil on a knife to avoid the dough sticking to it, and make slight cuts on top of the dough.

  13. 13

Bake on lower rack until the bread puffs up, then shift the tray to top rack and bake until golden brown.

  14. 14

Remove from the oven, and finally, brush melted butter on the bread which will make it soft and shiny😍.

  15. 15

Ulala, Yemenian milk bread is done. Ready to be served with tea or any drink of your choice. OH YUM!! 😋😍 #maherzkitchen
