Buttercream for Coating and Decorations

This is the recipe I've been using for a long time for coating cakes, generally before covering them with fondant. Buttercream is also great for decorations, perhaps with added food coloring, for example, for roses or flowers using special Russian piping tips. In this case, it's flavored with vanilla, but you can also use rum or cocoa depending on what you're making.

Very important. The buttercream for covering a cake must be soft and easy to spread, so the butter must be softened to a creamy consistency.

In a stand mixer, combine all the ingredients: butter, sifted powdered sugar, flavoring, and milk.

Mix and whip for a long time, about 10 minutes, until the cream becomes smooth and silky.

You can use it immediately to cover a cake or create decorations.

If you prepare it in advance, keep it in the refrigerator until you're ready to use it. In this case, you'll need to wait for it to soften again.
