I wanted to add a touch of spring to my steamed buns.

Ingredients

7 servings
  • 1Egg yolk
  • 2 tspVegetable oil
  • 3 tbspMilk
  • 50 gramsSugar
  • 3 tbspStrawberry sauce
  • You can substitute the sauce with strawberry jam.
  • 120 grams★ Cake flour
  • 1 tsp★ Baking powder
  • 1 tbspCranberries (optional)

Steps

    Sift all the ★ ingredients together. Wrap the lid with a kitchen towel, and start boiling water in the steamer. Cut up the cranberries into small pieces.

    In a bowl whisk the egg yolk, and add the vegetable oil, milk, sugar and strawberry sauce, in that order, and mix each time you add an ingredient.

    Add the sifted dry ingredients to the bowl. Add the cranberries and fold into the batter with a spatula. The batter should be somewhat sticky and thick.

    Place cupcake linings into silicone muffin molds and spoon in the batter 70% full. Align the molds in the steamer and steam for 12 minutes over high heat, and the buns are done.

    If you're not going to eat the buns right away, place them in a plastic bag while they are still slightly warm. This is to prevent them from hardening.
