Ambrosia Salad

This is a southern American dish that can easily be made with different substitutes. Ideally a spring/summer dish and some serve it as salad and some as desserts but I tend to have this whenever I can make it. No baking, no cooking required. No need to follow the quantity as is, you can add as much or as little of anything you wish.

6 servings
  1. 1 cupSour cream
  2. 2 cupsWhipping cream
  3. 1 cupMandarins
  4. 2chopped bananas
  5. 1 cupred grapes cut into half or whole
  6. 1/2 cupchopped pineaple
  7. 1/2 cupcherries chopped or whole
  8. 1/2 cupgreen grapes whole or cut into half
  9. 1/2 cuppeaches chopped
  10. 1/2 cupSweetened grated coconut
  11. 3 cupsmini marshmallows (colorful the better)
  12. 2 dropsvanilla extract
  13. Substitutes
  14. Greek yoghurt double cream in place of whipping cream
  15. Vanilla yoghurt in place of Greek yoghurt and vanilla extract
  16. You can add as much fruit as you want and whichever ones you want, or you can even skip one fruit over another
  17. Any tinned fruit if not using direct fruits

Cooking Instructions

20-30 min
  1. 1

Get a big bowl and add in sour cream and yoghurt. Mix well

  2. 2

Add in the fruits as you wish one after the other and add in coconut and mix well. You can choose to use one fruit over the other or even skip those you don't like. Also you can add in more fruit if you wish

  3. 3

I chose to add in the mini marshmallows at the end, so go ahead and add them and mix. The main ingredient is the marshmallow, so whatever fruits you add, add in some bit more marshmallows.

  4. 4

Let it sit in the fridge for a minimum of 4 hours and serve when you are ready. You can garnish it with a cherry or even a mix of dry nuts
