For Bento How to Freeze Fried Foods

This is a technique that we use a lot at home.
Fried foods tend to lose their flavor after a day so it's better to freeze them then thaw them if you're planning to eat them later on.
Shiso hijiki tastes great with the addition of chirimen jako.
To create a delicious bento, simply pack some rice into one of your bento compartments and sprinkle the shiso hijiki over the top. Then cut up the tonkatsu, pour some sauce over the the top and place it in the bento along with the chikuzen-ni and thick tamagoyaki. Recipe by Yuuyuu0221

Cooking Instructions
- 1
How to freeze fried foods without losing flavor Once the food is freshly fried, leave it to cool before wrapping in kitchen paper, then a tight layer of cling film or aluminium foil.
- 2
Place the fried foods in a ziplock bag, suck out all of the air with a straw, and seal the bag shut. (Please eat the contents within 2-3 weeks.)
- 3
You can even store the food after cutting, just make sure that the surface of any meat is very tightly wrapped.
- 4
On the day of use, thaw the food in a microwave and warm it up in the toaster oven. If you have the time, I recommend thawing it out naturally.

When I froze leftovers from dinner to use in bentos, making bentos in the morning got a lot easier.
