Our Family Recipe for Hayashi Rice (Hashed Beef Stew with Rice)

I made this for my eldest daughter, who finds hayashi rice made from commercial roux mix to be too sour.
If you stir-fry the meat for too long it'll become tough, so add the sauce when the meat is still a bit raw .

Combine the sauce ingredients and mix well.

Heat a frying pan and stir-fry the onion until cooked. Add the meat, turn the heat to high, add the red wine and stir-fry quickly.

Put the combined sauce ingredients from Step 1 into the pan. Simmer until the meat is cooked (about 5 minutes) and it's done.
