  1. Shrimp/tomatoes/mushrooms (such as maitake or king oyster mushrooms, depending on personal preference)
  2. Thai red curry paste/coconut milk/fish sauce/lemon juice
  3. Galangal/lemongrass/kaffir lime leaves/chili peppers/onion or shallots/cilantro

    Lemongrass, galangal, and kaffir lime leaves are the key herbs that create the enchanting flavor of Tom Yum Kung. Prepare the necessary ingredients: roughly chop the materials, crush the chili peppers, and cut and bruise the lemongrass to enhance its aroma.

    Sauté the shrimp shells with chili paste to release their fragrance.

    Add water and bring to a boil.

    Remove the shrimp shells, then add the herbs and continue to simmer.

    Add mushrooms, tomatoes, and shrimp (I also added fish fillets). In Thailand, there are versions that use only chicken.

    In a bowl, place cilantro, lemon juice, and fish sauce.

    Pour the cooked soup from the pot into the bowl and add a bit of coconut milk. 😊
