Ingredients

Serves 4 servings
  • 0.5 ozfresh yeast (or 0.25 oz/2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast)
  • 2/3 cupwarm milk (150 ml)
  • 1/3 cupwarm water (100 ml)
  • 2 tablespoonsgranulated sugar
  • 2eggs
  • 1 cupplain Greek yogurt (or plain yogurt)
  • 4 3/4 cupsall-purpose flour (600 g)
  • 1 teaspoonsalt
  • 7 tablespoonsunsalted butter, softened (100 g)

    In a large bowl, combine the yeast, warm milk, warm water, sugar, 2 egg whites, and Greek yogurt. Mix well.
    Gradually add the flour and salt, knead for 5 minutes to form a dough.
    Cover with a kitchen towel and let rise for 1 hour.
    Divide the dough into 12 small balls.

    Roll each ball into an oval shape with a rolling pin. Brush with softened butter, then make several lengthwise cuts.
    Roll the dough at an angle and join the ends together.
    Repeat with each piece of dough.

    Brush with the egg yolks.
    Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for about 18 minutes.
