Steps

First wash and soak rice, all lentils together for 15 mins.

Now in a pressure cooker heat oil, add cumin seeds, let them splutter then add asafoetida and garlic, stir for few seconds. Add ginger and sliced onions, saute until it gets nice golden colour. Add green peas and finely chopped potatoes,mix well.

Add turmeric, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well. Add rice and mixed lentils. Add 6 cups of water. Give everything a quick stir and close with lid. Cook for 3-4 whistles. switch off the flame and let the pressure release by itself.

In a tempering pan heat desi ghee,add mustard seeds let them splutter and immediately pour over the prepared khichdi and mix well. Add fresh coriander and mix.Delicious mix dal khichdi is ready, serve hot with curd, papad, pickle etc.
