Ingredients

Serves 4 servings
  1. Ingredients for the fish meatballs
  2. 13 oz. (365 grams)fillet of your preferred fish
  3. 1medium red potato
  4. 1 teaspoonchopped thyme
  5. 1 tablespoonchopped parsley
  6. 2 tablespoonsall-purpose flour
  7. 2 tablespoonscornstarch
  8. 3/4 teaspoonsalt
  9. 1/4 teaspoonground black pepper
  10. Ingredients for the soup
  11. 1 tablespoonvegetable oil
  12. 1 teaspoonchopped ginger
  13. 2 clovesgarlic, chopped
  14. 1/4 cupthinly sliced shallots
  15. 1celery stalk, sliced
  16. 1/2 cupjulienned carrot
  17. 1/2 cupsmall broccoli florets
  18. 1/2yellow bell pepper, julienned
  19. 2 cupsthickly sliced spinach
  20. 5 cupsfish stock
  21. 2green onions, thinly sliced
  22. 1/2 tablespoonchopped cilantro
  23. 1 tablespoonchopped parsley
  24. 2 teaspoonssoy sauce
  25. 1 1/2 teaspoonssalt
  26. 1/4 teaspoonground black pepper

Steps

  1. 1

    TO MAKE THE FISH MEATBALLS
    Measure and prepare all the ingredients.
    In a pot of boiling water, cook the potato with the skin on. Let it cool, peel, and mash it.
    Cut the fish into smaller pieces and finely mince it using a food processor or a knife.
    Mix the fish with the mashed potato and the rest of the ingredients until well combined. Refrigerate for 1 hour to chill thoroughly.
    Dust your hands with flour and shape the mixture into meatballs of your desired size.

    TO MAKE THE SOUP
    Measure and prepare all the ingredients.
    Bring the fish stock to a boil in a pot. Reduce the heat and cook the fish meatballs for about 4 minutes. Remove the meatballs and set aside on a plate.

  3. 3

    Heat another pot with the oil and sauté the ginger, garlic, and shallots together.
    Add the fish stock and bring to a boil.
    Add the vegetables, herbs, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Bring to a quick boil, add the fish meatballs, heat through, and serve.
