Fafda

Fafda is a popular snack of Gujarat that goes well with chutney or jalebi. I served with sweet chili sauce. Fafda is prepared from chickpea flour/gram flour/besan.

Fafda is a popular snack of Gujarat that goes well with chutney or jalebi. I served with sweet chili sauce. Fafda is prepared from chickpea flour/gram flour/besan.

Sieve besan. In a bowl mix all dry ingredients. Add 2 Tbsp oil.

Mix everything. Add warm water to knead the dough. Knead for 5 minutes to make it soft.

Add a tsp of oil to coat the dough. Cover with a wet kitchen cloth and rest for 30 minutes.

Knead again. Make small balls out of dough. Make cylinder out of balls.
On a wooden board stick cylinders to your side. Press and stretch with help of palm in forwarding direction.

Take out from wooden board with knife. Deep fry in hot oil, 2 to 3 fafda at a time on medium to low flame. Serve with sweet chili sauce.
