Steps

Soak chickpeas overnight.

Next day,boil till tender and most of the water is left.

Boil potatoes till tender.

Mash 1 potato and dice the other.

Thinly slice the lotus root and boil with turmeric till tender.

Blend 3onions and slice the other.

Slice the chillies.

Finely chop the coriander leaves.

Heat oil in a pan.

Add in garlic,cumin and mustard seeds.

Let them sizzle for few seconds.

Add in blended onion.

Fry till moisture evaporates.

Add in all the spices and stir well.

Add in nigella and tamarind.

Add in chickpeas along with the water.

Let the water simmer.

Add in mashed potato.

Cook till gravy slightly thickens.

Add in onion,coriander,green chillies,lemon,potato and lotus.

Serve as it is or with roti/paratha.
