Cheddar Cheese Popovers

I had popovers for the first time at a steakhouse restaurant in Hawaii. I'd never had anything like them, and I was amazed at how delicious they were! I really wanted to have them back at home, so I tried re-creating them.
I made these in a popover pan, but you can use a muffin pan instead.
Whatever you do, don't open the oven door while they are baking. Otherwise the puffed up popovers will shrink.

Steps
- 1
These are the ingredients. Bring the eggs and milk up to room temperature.
- 2
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- 3
Heat the milk over low heat to warm it up a little.
- 4
Sift the flour.
- 5
Beat the eggs.
- 6
Heat up the popover pan or muffin pan in the oven.
- 7
Add the milk little by little to the eggs.
- 8
When the eggs and milk are combined...
- 9
Sift the flour again into the bowl with the eggs and milk. Add the salt also, and mix together with a whisk.
- 10
The popover batter is done.
- 11
Butter the popover or muffin pan.
- 12
Fill the cups a bit less than halfway full.
- 13
Add about 2 pinches of Cheddar cheese to each cup. Don't use up all the cheese.
- 14
Pour in the rest of the batter, and add the rest of the cheese on top.
- 15
Put into the preheated 180°C oven and bake for 50 minutes.
- 16
It will smell very nice as it's baking. It's puffing up quite a bit. You may want to open the door and take a peek, but don't do it.
- 17
After 50 minutes they are done. Please eat them when they are piping hot! You can butter them if you like.
- 18
I tried them with this cream cheese with chives and onion, and it was sooo good.
