Rajasthani Dal Dhokli

It's my second recipe in this contest. And the ingredient given is fish. Being a vegetarian, I do not eat fish. But being a Sagittarian, how could I let it go? 😁 In my previous post I mentioned that Sagittarians are creative. It's winter season and this season makes us a little lazy, what about preparing a one pot ?
Yes, it is an entire Indian meal made in one-pot, which you can relish as it is. Making this wholesome meal ‘Dal Dhokli’ is very simple and easy to cook. And it takes very little time and effort in cooking.
And it is slightly different from the Gujrati Dal Dhokli. Here I am with my creativity. Do feel free to comment on this recipe.

If yes, do cook for your family and keep sharing food love

Steps
- 1
Combine Bengal gram, green gram, and black gram and rinse them well. Let it soak for 15 minutes.
- 2
Add all the dhokli ingredients except yogurt to a large mixing bowl. Mix well, and add yogurt to make a stiff and smooth dough.Add some water if needed for making dough. Let the dough rest for 10 minutes.
- 3
Add washed dals to the pressure cooker along with turmeric powder, chopped tomatoes, salt, and 4 cups of water. Let it come to a rolling boil.
- 4
When dough is ready, divide the dough in equal parts. When dough is ready, divide the dough to make marble-sized balls, and press them like a disc. Spread them on a plate separately.
Meanwhile take one part and flatten it. With the help of knife carve some fish. Or you can cut with the fish shape cookie cutter. Roast them on hot tawa evenly and keep aside. - 5
Add rest of the dough balls to the boiling dal one by one and let them boil. Add more water if needed. Cover the pressure cooker with lid, and pressure cook dal with dough balls for 7-8 whistles. Remove from heat. When the cooker has cooled off, open the lid and keep it aside.
- 6
Heat oil in a pan. Once hot, add mustard and cumin seeds to it.Then add garlic, green chillies and dry red chili. Saute well. When they start to splutter, add chopped onion, and saute for about 3-4 minutes or till it turns pink.
- 7
Add turmeric powder, red chili powder and coriander powder along with 2 cups of water. Add salt. Let the water boil.
- 8
Now add the tempering to the cooked dal and mix well. Boil for 2 more minutes.
- 9
Transfer some dal Dhokli in a serving bowl. Top with the fish shaped Dhokli. Sprinkle some fresh coriander leaves and ghee on top and serve hot.
