Puran Poli

Puran Poli is a sweet flattened bread, made with flour, lentils , coconut and jaggery stuffings with a flavour of cardamom, nutmeg and dry ginger powder. The Puran Poli is usually roasted with homemade cow ghee that brings an amazing flavour and taste. This recipe is popular in Maharashtra, Gujrat and all South Indian states. It's traditional recipe made on special occasion.

Puran Poli is a sweet flattened bread, made with flour, lentils , coconut and jaggery stuffings with a flavour of cardamom, nutmeg and dry ginger powder. Maka a soft dough with flour ingredients and required amount of water. Smear oil and cover it. I allowed to rest the dough for 2 hours.

Pressure cooker the soaked chana daal to soft. Grind to a paste when cool down.

Heat ghee, and add grated jaggery, chana daal paste and coconut powder. Cook on medium flame till you get the stuff come together. Add cardamom powder, nutmeg powder and sonth/dry ginger powder. Mix well and allow to cool down the stuffings.

Divide the dough to 6 equal balls. Likewise divide stuffings to 6 equal balls.

Press down the dough balls to 4 inches, hold like a cup and place stuffings balls at the center. Cover the dough on stuffings.
Bring the edges to cover the stuffings. - 6
Dust flour on kitchen counter. Roll out 8-9 inch Pura Poli.

Heat pan on medium flame. Roast each Puran Poli on both sides applying ghee.

Pack and serve Puran Poli with Green Papaya Curry and Pomegranate arils.
