Vendakkai puli kozhumbu is a tamilnadu delicacy. Its main ingredients are ladies fingers, tamarind, tomato, onion and coconut . Puli means sour .. Its sweet and tangy taste is just heavenly.. It goes very well with hot rice.

Vendakkai puli kozhumbu is a tamilnadu delicacy. Its main ingredients are ladies fingers, tamarind, tomato, onion and coconut . Puli means sour .. Its sweet and tangy taste is just heavenly.. It goes very well with hot rice.
Steps

Cut bhendi little big pieces and fry in oil for 15 min then keep aside. In the same pan add 1tbs oil add onions, garlic and curry leaves and saute for few minutes. Grate coconut.

Once onions are soft add tomatoes and saute till mushy then add grated coconut and saute. Let the mixture cool. Grind the mixture with tamarind and jaggery to a fine paste.

Add 1tsp oil add methi or fenugreek seeds then add mustard seeds and cumin seeds saute till they splutter. Add sliced onions and hing. Once onions are soft add the grinded mixture, bhendi and cook. Add 1 cup water. Add kozhumbu powder. Add salt and chilli powder.We can use sambar powder too. Adjust the water. Gravy should be bit thick. Garnish with coriander leaves.
