Sumac Cabbage Fry

This is a simple innovative Vegetarian dish by me made with Cabbage or Patta Gobhi along with Sumac and a few spices used in everyday cooking. A ripe large Tomato is also used by me but it's not that necessary.
We usually love this for Breakfast but it can very well be served at any of the three important meals of the day.
Since it's a semi dry one, it goes absolutely well alongside any of the Indian Bread. Nevertheless it can also be used as a dry Sabzi with Daal or Kadhi and some fluffy, hot and simple boiled Rice too. You will definitely love it. For me it's a comfort meal on any given day.
And not only that, it's a delicious one as well and will be loved by all for many reasons. This super yummy Vegetable is such a wonderful option for everyday cooking. It makes a lovely combination with many a different Vegetables that are equally delightful like it namely Potatoes, Tomatoes, Brinjal, Capsicum, Green Peas, Green Onions, Leek, Fenugreek Leaves, Dill Leaves etc.
The list is endless. Relish this lovely dish with homemade meal on any day.

Steps
- 1
In a pan, heat oil and add the Mustard Seeds at first. Let it crackle a bit before adding Ginger-garlic paste and Green Chillies. Saute for a minute and add the rest of the spices. Now add the sliced Onions. Saute until translucent. Don't forget to add the main ingredient Sumac to it. Mix well.
- 2
Followed by the shredded or grated Cabbage. Cover and simmer on a low heat for 15-18 minutes. Open the lid and adjust Salt accordingly. Saute until the Oil starts separating and a lovely aroma emanates in your kitchen. Garnish with lots of chopped Coriander Leaves. Enjoy a warm family Breakfast on a weekend or any day of the Week. Or serve hot as a side dish to your favourite mealtimes with your loved ones.
- 3
Or serve hot immediately alongside yummy homemade Rotis or Phulkas or Chapatis like me. Yum!
