Moong daal ki Khichri

Moong daal khichri is usually made at our desi homes when someone is not feeling well. But at my home, my mom used to make it sometimes when she couldn’t think of any other thing to make or specially when she made bhindi, kareley or some dry dish which can’t be eaten with rice.. Because my dad has a habit of eating rice in dinner..
It is very simple yet tasty khichri 😋 So today we had a late lunch so I also made it as I didn’t want to make anything special for dinner..
Moong daal ki Khichri
Moong daal khichri is usually made at our desi homes when someone is not feeling well. Soak the rice and lentil together for at-least 1 hour.

In a wok add ghee and onion. Sauté till onion are light brown.

Add the whole spices and mix. Add a little water.

Add salt and green chillies. Mix well and cook for 1-2 mins. Then add the water.

Rinse the rice and discard the lentil’s skin which floats all over. Then add the rice into the wok.

Bring to boil and wait until almost all the water disappear and bubbles are seen. Add freshly chopped coriander and cover with lid. Cook on lowest flame for 7-8 mins.

Open the lid and lightly mix the rice inwards.

Serve with plain yogurt.
