Sabudana wada is a popular fasting dish. Usually it is fried but I have used appe pan to make it healthier. It can be prepared in very less oil and tastes equally delicious. It tastes great served with a green chutney made using coriander leaves, green chillies, groundnut and curd.

Ingredients

3hr + 30 min

  • 100 gmsabudana
  • 200 gmpotatoes
  • 4 tbsproughly crushed groundnuts
  • Rock salt to taste
  • 2 tspsugar
  • 1 tsplemon juice
  • 1 tspginger paste
  • 1 tspgreen chilli paste
  • 10curry leaves finely chopped
  • 2 tbspcoriander leaves
  • 4 tbspoil

Steps

3hr + 30 min
  1. 1

    Wash sabudana and soak it in just enough water to cover it. Soak it for 3 - 4 hours. Boil potatoes and peel them. Grate the potatoes and add it to a bowl along with groundnut, rock salt, sugar, lemon juice, ginger, green chilli paste, curry leaves and coriander leaves. Mix everything well.

    Now divide the mixture into 20 equal portions and shape it into balls. Heat the appe pan on medium heat and add a little oil in each cavity. Put sabudana balls in it. Now cover and cook it on medium heat until golden brown. Now turn it around and cook again until golden brown.

    Prepare all the sabudana wada in the same way.

    Serve it with a green chutney prepared from coriander leaves, green chillies, groundnut and curd.
