Ingredients

90 minutes
1-2 servings
  • 1-2 portionspork ribs
  • To tastesalt and pepper to season
  • ⭐
  • ⭐Gravy⭐
  • 425 mls (3/4 pint)hot water
  • 1/3 cupBBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoonsketchup
  • 2 tablespoonsBisto beef gravy granules
  • 1beef OXO cube
  • 1 tablespoonWorcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoonliquid smoke
  • ⭐
  • ⭐Seasoning⭐
  • 1 tablespoonpaprika
  • 2 teaspoonssea salt
  • 1 teaspoonblack pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoongarlic granules
  • 1/8 teaspooncumin
  • 1/8 teaspoononion powder

Steps

90 minutes
  1. 1

    Preheat the oven to gas mark 7/220°C (425°F)

  2. 2

    Mix the seasoning and sprinkle well all over the ribs (see also "Tex's General Purpose Meat Seasoning" in my profile)

    Pop the ribs in the oven for 40-45 minutes in an oven proof dish

  4. 4

    Add the dry ingredients for the gravy to a jug then add the hot water and stir well. Finally, stir in the rest of the wet ingredients

  5. 5

    When the ribs have cooked, reheat the gravy for another 2 minutes in the microwave and pour over the ribs. Put back in the oven for a further 30 minutes

    Plate up the ribs, and drizzle generously with the gravy

I'm a designer/artist and I learned to cook when I started making my own Chinese food over 30 years ago. I'm a lover of my native British food, but recently I've developed a taste for American comfort food, especially sandwiches and BBQ (watching too much 'Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives' probably). 😸 Unfortunately, we don't have any independent US-style diners or drive-ins in my neck of the woods, so I had to learn from recipe books and the Food Network. I'll also be publishing some traditional UK classics in case any non-Brits want to have a crack at Brit grub.
