Barley Flour Halwa or Jau Halwa is a perfect choice for any party or festivities around the corner. This is sheer awesomeness when it comes to it's melt in mouth texture. It's soft, flavourful, and aromatic. Healthy and nutritious too. Perfect on any day. Children will love it for sure.
And making this is also quite simple. The only thing is the roasting part where you need to be a little patient and relaxed.
This one is loved by my children and basically, it's their favourite idea for Breakfast or an evening Snack which they love to eat with Pooris.
And since it's super healthy, I make it for them every now and then making them love their food.
Otherwise, as you all know, children get a bit fussy if they are fed anything they dislike. It's a great task feeding them good food. And when it's a weekend or a special holiday, then a treat for them is a must. And this time it's for the Children's day.
Happy Children's Day!

Steps
- 1
Roast the main ingredient mentioned in a kadai using Ghee. This is the most important part of it's preparation. Roasting it takes a little extra time. Therefore do it with patience on low heat only.
- 2
Heat up Sugar and water on high heat. Let it dissolve completely for about 2-3 minutes and then immediately add this to the Kadai. Mix well. There is no need for any string consistency here. The syrup should be lightly sticky. That's it. Keep stirring it while mixing. See that there are no lumps. Now add the Cardamom powder. It becomes glossy and fluffy.
- 3
Take it off the heat. Garnish with your favourite slivered Nuts. Serve right away. Enjoy!
