Papaya and Chana Dal quick curry

This is a Satvik preparation of raw papaya with chana dal, quickly made with pressure cooker. Make it when you are fasting or don’t have much time to cook. Can be paired with both chapati and rice.

This is a Satvik preparation of raw papaya with chana dal, quickly made with pressure cooker. Make it when you are fasting or don’t have much time to cook. Can be paired with both chapati and rice.

Soak 1/2 cup chana dal for 2/3 hours. Chop the papaya into cubes.

Heat ghee, add hing, bay leaf chilli, cumin seeds, ginger. Now add the tomato, papaya, chana dal and mix well. Add salt and turmeric, 1/2 cup water, close and give 1 whistle.

Let it release pressure by its own. Put on flame for few more minutes if you find little uncooked or more water is remaining. Switch off and add cumin powder, garam masala and coriander leaves give a light mix.
Tip: I always use homemade roasted cumin powder and roasted garam masala, so I add at the end. If you use raw, add before giving whistles.
