Ingredients

  • 1 medium-sized catfish, cleaned and cut into pieces
  • 2 tablespoonsground crayfish
  • 1 tablespoonground pepper
  • 1onion, chopped
  • 2scotch bonnet peppers, chopped
  • 2 clovesgarlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoonground uziza seeds
  • 2 tablespoons ground ehu seeds (Calabash Nutmeg)
  • 2 tablespoonschopped scent leaves (Nchuanwu)
  • Salt to taste

    Wash the catfish thoroughly, cut it into desired pieces, and set aside.

    In a pot, add the chopped onions, minced garlic, and scotch bonnet peppers. Fry for a few minutes until fragrant.

    Add ground crayfish, ground pepper, and stir well.

  4. 4

    Pour enough water to cover the catfish in the pot and add salt to taste. Cover the pot and let it cook for about 10 minutes.

  5. 5

    Add the catfish pieces to the pot, along with the ground uziza seeds and ehu seeds. Stir well, cover the pot, and let it cook for anot

  6. 6

    Add the chopped scent leaves (Nchuanwu), stir well, and allow the soup to simmer for a few minutes.

  7. 7

    Once the catfish pepper soup is ready, turn off the heat, and let it cool down for a few minutes.

  8. 8

    Serve hot with your favorite side dish, such as boiled yam, plantain, or rice.
