Mom's 70's Brunswick Chicken Stew Mom's 70's Brunswick Chicken Stew
I had completely forgotten about this recipe until mom reminded me of it. When I was a kid, I didn't dig on veggies much, so it is no wonder I had forgotten this. Now that I am older and eat my veggies, this stew rocks. I remember my father loved when mom would make it. King-Crimson -
Gumbo Gumbo
My husband asked for Gumbo for his bday...one problem I've only made it a couple times and wasn't too impressed with the recipes. Sat down and started studying recipes and wrote my own for trial. It blew me away how well it turned out! His bday is the day after Thanksgiving so it will be made with turkey when it rolls around.Note I served jalapenos on the side instead of cooking in and served the Gumbo to my kids as is wasn't overly spicy. Leftover Thanksgiving Gumbo! Leftover Thanksgiving Gumbo!
#mycookbookOh my goodness I am so proud of this. Being from Louisiana there is some things you do with gumbo and some things you just don't! But I stepped outside the box and I'm so glad I did because this is my most proud dish of my life! We definitely have a new tradition here in my home! I really really hope you try it and let me know what you think! This recipe filled up my 21 quart Dutch oven, you can adjust recipe to fit your family. Wolfcatskitchen -

GUMBO! By Tam GUMBO! By Tam
It is my pleasure to create heart-warming recipes that are inspired by my family, friends, or even a time or season. I love Cajun food. This gumbo is a staple in my home, especially when the air outside starts to get that chilly Fall feeling Tamara Patterson -
Jimbo's Gumbo Jimbo's Gumbo
I've been making gumbo for years. I thought I got pretty good at it.. Until I was fortunate enough to go to Mardi Gras in NOLA last year. I found I didn't know what I was doing haha. I probably ate 12 different takes in the 4 days I was there. I promptly came back and adjusted my methods. Now I'd say it's serviceable, still not as good as in New Orleans, obviously.NOTE: the ingredients call for file powder, which can be hard to come by, but it does make a difference. You can use more of the Cajun spice blend if file powder isn't available. Also I used celery instead of okra which most recipes call for. I'm half yellowhammer but I can't stand okra hahaha Whitetrash Gastronome -

Homemade White Stew Homemade White Stew
I made a healthy and light stew which goes well with rice, using the ingredients I had on hand.Thinly slice or mince the ingredients so that they cook through faster. If you have ingredients that contains nice flavours such as chicken, the dish will be still tasty without Weipa, but I like adding it. Taste it at the end, and add it if you like. When you are planning to serve this dish over rice, I strongly recommend using the rice flour. Recipe by Youchin cookpad.japan -
Polish Hunter's Stew - Bigos Polish Hunter's Stew - Bigos
I miss the wild mushrooms that my father gathered from the local forests surrounding our home in Willis, Michigan in the 1950s. He looked for two types in particular, a morel mushroom in the spring and a brown mushroom in the early fall. In the fall, there were many types of mushrooms—some edible, and some deadly poisonous. My dad knew the one type that was edible and could recognize it at a glance. We feasted on fresh from the forest mushrooms sautéed with onions in butter.Mushrooms are also a mainstay of a fall/winter dish of Hunter’s Stew, or Bigos (bee-goes). The traditional meats for this sauerkraut/cabbage stew are those that a hunter might find—venison or rabbit, perhaps. My mother made her version with pork ribs and smoked or fresh kielbasa, simmered for hours in a big soup pot on the stove. She called it Kapusta (kah-poo-stah) which is the Polish word for cabbage. Every Polish family has their own version. This recipe is an easy one for beginners. If you make it, please let me know how it turned out for you! Adam Janowski
