Cooking Instructions

Alternative: place in rice cooker over night and increase water by 1/2. Or instant pot on high for 25 min

Or place wheat, water and salt in an uncovered 1-2 qt casserole or metal bowl. In a large pan for steaming, place something under the bowl to keep it from touching bottom of pan.

Add water to larger pan and cover with lid.

Boil for 15 minutes,then simmer for 45 minutes

Though normal waffles are really fluffy and great for a snack, for breakfast they don't really make you full enough and I'd worry about the nutritional content. So these are the waffles I make for breakfast. I use honey in place of sugar, and olive oil for the oil. They've got a nice texture, are full of nutrients, and are very filling.Since I place the bowl on a scale and weigh out all the ingredients as I go along, I listed everything in grams. I made these when I ran out of bread for breakfast.They are easier to make than baking bread, and I like them as they are not as sweet as normal pancakes.I added roasted wheat germ, because my daughter and I love the fragrant smell!!You can just roughly mix the mixture with a whisk.When you fry the crumpets, they won't rise much if the temperature is too low. So fry them over medium heat, but make sure not to burn them!They are light and not so sweet, so they are perfect for breakfast!I think they are more delicious if you add the wheat germ, as they have a nice fragrant smell and you can enjoy them right to the end!
