Sun drying is an age old practice in our Country. There are an umpteen number of sun dried items ranging from Condiments to Pickles to Papads to Curd Chillies to Spices and even Dry Fruits and Nuts.

Sun drying is a great option and technique to store many a goodies. Bright hot Summers are a must for this and when it is high time that we say bye to the Season, these goodies are a testimony to that efforts we put in. And finally we have them all ready in June and that's why it is the Month of innumerable such delightful goodies for me. And also nowadays we get many Fruits and Vegetables round the Year without much hassles. And much to our delight, it's absolutely amazing to get our favourite one's and being able to Sun dry them for a long time storage makes it even more special and loved.
It's not that fresh one's are available throughout but sometimes dry varieties are desirable and unique both in terms of taste and texture plus flavour. Many of us enjoy these Sun dried goodies for not just one but many reasons. I try my best to enjoy doing this every time both in Summers and Winters. Apart from Summers, Winters are too good as well when we get good amount of Sunlight.

Enjoy No Cooking with Zeen!

Steps

4 - 5days
  1. 1

Wash and rinse them all clean and free of dirt and sand. Allow them to dry completely and devoid of moisture.

  2. 2

Spread them out on a tray or a plate. Place them in the open where there is lots of Sunlight coming in without any interruption. Sun dry them for a good 4-5 days or as required.

  3. 3

Purely homemade and easily done dry figs are no longer a difficult thing to do. If there is enough sunlight in your home, then it's all set. Nothing difficult at all.

  4. 4

Store them in airtight containers and relish upto a long time if refrigerated. Refrigerate in order to keep them fresh and flavourful. The constantly changing temperatures might render them stale and undesirable if kept outside without refrigeration after a considerable amount of time. Hence I strongly recommend it to be refrigerated in good airtight containers. Enjoy!

Homemaker by choice and a passionate cook by heart. An aspiring cook who actually never knew anything about Cooking until i became a mother myself. With Motherhood came the responsibilities as well and this was the turning point in my life.I started to learn the ABC's of cooking, taking help from my mother and my MIL. And time just flew. I spread my wings higher and higher. With my love for excellence and innovation, i stepped into a world of homecooks with my exposure to Cookpad one fine day on the social media. And there was no looking back since then and i have not only shared recipes here on this wonderful platform but also have made some lovely friends as well. Today iam successful because of my hard work, dedication and loads of good wishes of my family and my kids in particular.
