Bombil Masala
It is a Maharashtrian delicacy. I just love this dish because it is most simplest and the easiest way of cooking.....
Steps
- 1
Wash and cut the fish into pieces as shown below. Now add turmeric powder and salt to it and mix it. Now keep this aside.
- 2
Heat a pan. Add 3 to 4 tbsp of mustard oil. When the oil gets hot, add some jeera, green cardamom, dried red chilli and curry leaves. Let them splutter a while. Then add chopped tomatoes, grated onion, chopped green chillies and ginger-garlic paste all at a time.
- 3
Mix everything well and fry the masala for 3 minutes on a low flame. Then add all the dry ingredients like turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder, salt and sugar. Mix everything well. Fry for 2 more minutes until oil starts releasing from the masalas.
- 4
Now add fish pieces in it. Mix everything well. Now cover the pan and cook it on a low flame for about 5 mins. Once again open the lid and mix everything.
- 5
You will notice that everything including the pieces of fish had started breaking and mixing with the masalas. Now add some chopped coriander a the mix it. Check the salt at this stage. Cook for 2 more minutes. Your bombil masala is now ready to serve. Serve it with some steamed rice.
